Senior Backend Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is scaling its e-mobility business across Africa. Our talent team is recruiting a Senior Backend Engineer for an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential to extend or transition into a permanent role. This fully remote position is open to candidates in Ireland, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom (UTC -1 to UTC +3 time zones).

You'll build event-driven microservices that power a rapidly growing platform serving thousands of customers. This is an opportunity to work on technology that drives financial inclusion and sustainable transport solutions across an entire continent.

Responsibilities

• Design and build sophisticated event-driven microservices using C# and.NET
• Own solutions end-to-end, from architecture decisions through production monitoring
• Implement and maintain cloud infrastructure on Azure
• Work with messaging technologies such as Service Bus, Kafka, or RabbitMQ
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker
• Establish observability and monitoring using tools like Prometheus and Grafana
• Practice DevOps culture with infrastructure as code and continuous delivery
• Implement automated testing across all environments, including production
• Collaborate with team members across UK, Europe, and Africa time zones
• Use AI coding tools as part of the engineering workflow

What We're Looking For

Required Technical Skills:

• Strong proficiency in C# and.NET development
• Hands-on experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies (Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
• Solid microservices architecture experience
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud platforms
• Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Proven testing and deployment expertise
• DevOps mindset and practices
• Experience working with AI coding tools (Claude Code or similar preferred)
