BAS Design Manager

We are representing a confidential engineering and consulting firm specializing in hyperscale data centers and mission-critical infrastructure. Our client seeks a BAS Design Manager to lead building automation systems design, power management integration, and controls engineering for large-scale projects. This is a fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Oversee subconsultant scopes of work including Statements of Objectives, construction drawings, and technical specifications for BAS and power management systems
• Ensure deliverables meet project requirements, organizational standards, and applicable codes through comprehensive QA/QC processes
• Create and manage project deliverables including design drawings, sequences of operations, and specifications
• Develop engineering drawings in AutoCAD and Revit format including floor plans, system architecture diagrams, point-to-point wiring diagrams, and control panel diagrams
• Coordinate building automation requirements with MEP trades and external partners
• Develop, document, and maintain BAS and power management production standards and specification sections
• Manage construction administration activities including shop drawing review, submittal review, RFI responses, and punch list management
• Conduct onsite BAS engineering audits, feasibility studies, and surveys for retrofit projects
• Serve as technical lead and primary point of contact on projects of moderate to complex scope
• Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance efficiency and support continuous process improvement

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in BAS controls systems engineering
• Advanced knowledge of open-source protocols including BACnet, Modbus, and SNMP
• Advanced knowledge of IoT and smart building solutions
• Strong understanding of data center control redundancy strategies
• Advanced proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and exceptional file management skills
• Ability to work successfully in a remote environment with effective communication and organizational skills
• Strong ability to identify and analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to communicate directly with clients and serve as primary point of contact
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% to client sites and industry events across the U.S.
