Senior Software Engineer, Audio Validation Systems

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential gaming technology organization in their search for a Senior Software Engineer, Audio Validation Systems to join their SDK quality engineering team in London.

In this role, you will design and build audio analysis tools, automated validation pipelines, and regression detection systems that ensure platform audio technologies meet the highest standards of quality and stability. This is primarily a software engineering position focused on creating measurable, repeatable validation systems.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Designing, building, and maintaining audio validation tools for SDK audio libraries and platform technologies
• Writing C/C++ and Python code to analyze audio output, detect regressions, compare versions, and validate expected behavior
• Building automated systems for audio quality measurement, including signal analysis, spectral comparison, latency checks, and conformance validation
• Creating tooling that provides engineers with clear evidence when audio behavior changes
• Collaborating with audio SDK engineers to understand features, risks, and testability requirements
• Integrating audio validation into CI pipelines, build systems, dashboards, and release workflows
• Investigating complex audio issues using debugging, data analysis, signal processing, and cross-team collaboration
• Owning technical areas end-to-end from requirements through implementation, documentation, and ongoing support
• Defining standards for maintainable, reproducible, and trustworthy audio validation tooling
• Mentoring engineers and sharing knowledge across quality engineering and SDK teams

What We're Looking For

Essential qualifications:

• Strong professional software engineering experience
• Strong C/C++ development skills
• Strong Python development skills
• Practical understanding of digital audio fundamentals: PCM audio, sample rates, channels, latency, dynamic range, filtering, resampling, encoding, or frequency-domain analysis
• Experience building tools, automation, analysis systems, SDK components, test infrastructure, or developer-facing systems
• Strong debugging skills across code, data, tooling, environments, and pipelines
• Ability to transform ambiguous technical problems into robust, maintainable software
• Experience with source control, code review, CI, and collaborative engineering workflows
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially when explaining technical findings to engineers with different specialisms
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Audio Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience

Strongly preferred:

• Experience with audio analysis, signal processing, or automated media validation
• Experience validating libraries, APIs, command-line tools, SDKs, runtime systems, or platform-level software
• Experience with automated regression detection and quality measurement
• Experience with CI systems such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Buildkite, or TeamCity
• Experience with test frameworks such as GTest, CppUnit, or PyTest

Useful additional experience:

• Game audio, console audio, real-time audio systems, middleware, or audio engines
• Perceptual or objective audio quality approaches: loudness measurement, spectral comparison, null testing, impulse response analysis, latency measurement, glitch detection, PESQ, POLQA, or PEAQ
• Spatial audio, 3D audio, binaural rendering, ambisonics, HRTFs, object-based audio, or immersive audio formats
• Performance profiling, numerical correctness testing, floating-point tolerances, or cross-platform determinism
• Dashboards, telemetry, reporting, or trend analysis
• Technical leadership or mentoring experience
