About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data and AI technology client seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to join their London team. This is a senior-level technical role focused on the Manufacturing, Automotive, and Defence sectors, where you'll lead technical engagements, build compelling demonstrations, and drive platform adoption through hands-on solution architecture.

As a Senior Solutions Engineer working with our client, you'll combine deep technical skills with customer-facing abilities—owning discovery sessions, solution design, and live platform demonstrations that win technical decision-makers. This is a builder's role requiring strong coding ability, architectural thinking, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently lead technical discovery and solution design for customer workloads spanning data engineering, analytics, generative AI, and machine learning
• Build and deliver compelling proofs-of-concept and live demonstrations on cloud-based data platforms that drive technical wins
• Own frontline technical relationships with customer engineers, data teams, and technical leadership
• Develop account-level technical strategies in partnership with sales teams to grow platform consumption and usage
• Navigate competitive landscapes by articulating technical differentiation through hands-on demonstrations and architecture sessions
• Contribute reusable technical assets including notebooks, solution accelerators, and reference architectures to the broader solutions engineering community

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years in data engineering, solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, or hands-on consulting roles
• Proficient in Python and SQL with demonstrated ability to debug, optimise, and write production-quality code—live coding is required during the interview process
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing data solutions on at least one public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Working knowledge of distributed data systems: Apache Spark, Delta Lake, or equivalent technologies (Hadoop, Kafka, Flink)
• Experience leading technical customer conversations including discovery sessions, whiteboarding, and architecture reviews
• Familiarity with one or more: data engineering (ETL/ELT, medallion architecture, streaming), data science/ML (model training, MLOps), or SQL analytics
• Strong presentation and demonstration skills—you will build and present a live solution during the interview
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification or experience with modern lakehouse platforms
• Experience with data catalog systems, declarative pipeline frameworks, or ML lifecycle management tools
• Background at a data/AI company, cloud provider, or technical consulting firm
