About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential data infrastructure organization seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join their Delta team in London. This role focuses on core write-path operations for a leading open-source storage layer, delivering industry-leading performance at massive scale. You'll work on systems processing exabytes of data daily, building next-generation platforms that handle high QPS, low latency requirements while proactively addressing future growth challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems for large-scale distributed data platforms
- Perform low-level systems debugging, performance measurement, and optimization on large production clusters
- Lead architecture design, influence product roadmap, and take ownership of new technical projects
- Introduce tools to enable greater automation and operability of services at scale
- Prevent and investigate production issues using deep technical experience
- Plan and lead complex technical projects involving multiple teams
- Provide technical leadership as a team lead, mentoring engineers, leading sprint planning, and delegating assignments
- Drive performance innovations and contribute to open source efforts in the data infrastructure space
What We're Looking For
- 15+ years of industry experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems
- Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures with proven real-world application
- Comfortable working towards multi-year technical visions with incremental deliverables
- Motivated by delivering customer value and measurable impact
- Experience driving company-wide initiatives that improve customer satisfaction
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent practical experience
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and improve team coding practices and system designs
