Senior+ Backend Software Engineer – Asia

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential social commerce platform seeking a Senior+ Backend Software Engineer based in China. Our client is revolutionizing live shopping experiences and has achieved remarkable growth, scaling their infrastructure to serve millions of users across web and mobile platforms.

As a senior member of the engineering team, you'll architect and build the backend systems that power real-time bidding, live streaming interactions, and seamless checkout experiences. This role requires strong technical leadership, hands-on development expertise, and the ability to scale services for high-concurrency environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Node.js to power web and mobile applications
• Lead architectural decisions and establish ownership over critical system components
• Design and implement scalable infrastructure to handle millions of concurrent users
• Take active ownership of DevOps responsibilities including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure management, deployment automation, and system reliability
• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate velocity and improve code quality
• Maintain consistently high productivity across large-scope projects

What We're Looking For

• BS or higher in Computer Science
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin required
• 5+ years of experience building highly scalable and reliable infrastructure
• Hands-on DevOps experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), and cloud platforms (GCP/AWS)
• Payment system experience preferred
• Experience building high-concurrency systems preferred
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Codex, Claude Code) preferred
• Experience with React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for web interfaces a plus
