About This Opportunity
We are representing a global leader in combustion and environmental solutions, serving oil and gas, petrochemical, and power generation sectors. Our client seeks a Senior Health & Safety Engineer to oversee health, safety, and environmental policies for their global field services operations based in Stamford, England.
This is a hybrid role with approximately 50% of your time spent on construction sites and 50% in the office. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing HSE policies and procedures while working closely with project managers, construction managers, and field services teams across the EMEA region. The role requires flexibility to respond to business needs, including occasional weekend and evening work.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local and international regulations (OSHA, HSE regulations)
- Create and maintain standard documentation packs, templates, and process maps for all field service activities
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Organize and lead training programs on health and safety practices, compliance, and safe work methods
- Track and monitor engineer safety documents and qualifications, ensuring validity and compliance prior to personnel mobilization
- Support registration and vetting of freelance engineers, contractors, and sub-contractor employees, completing audits as necessary
- Investigate and report workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions
- Implement and track calibration and certification of critical equipment including pressure equipment, personnel monitors, measurement devices, and lifting equipment
- Deliver HSE training and awareness programs to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility
- Track HSE performance metrics including incident reports, audit findings, and key performance indicators
- Conduct root cause analysis for accidents and incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, quality management, or related field (preferred)
- HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001 are highly desirable
- Extensive experience in HSE coordination or management, preferably in oil and gas, petrochemical, or power industries with construction bias
- Proven track record of developing and implementing safety, quality, and environmental programs
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices
- Experience with HSE audits, risk assessments, and incident investigation
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management tools, Teams, and Excel
- Hands-on health and safety culture, demonstrating leadership both at construction sites and in the office
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business requirements and work across hybrid settings
