HSE Specialist

Walshgroup is hiring a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist to join the team at our Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin location. This is a full-time position dedicated to protecting our workplace, employees, and operations through proactive safety management and regulatory compliance.

Role Overview

As an HSE Specialist at Walshgroup in Mount Pleasant, WI, you'll lead efforts to maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment. You'll develop and implement safety programs, conduct risk assessments, investigate incidents, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations. This role requires a commitment to continuous improvement and fostering a strong safety culture across all operational areas.

Responsibilities

• Conduct workplace safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and non-compliance issues
• Develop, update, and communicate health and safety policies and procedures
• Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and accidents; document findings and recommend corrective actions
• Coordinate safety training programs and employee onboarding on HSE practices
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure organizational compliance with OSHA and other relevant standards
• Maintain safety records, incident logs, and compliance documentation
• Lead or participate in safety committees and meetings
• Collaborate with management and departments to implement safety improvements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant college coursework or degree preferred
• 2+ years of experience in health and safety roles or industrial environments
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
• Experience conducting hazard assessments and developing safety programs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with safety management software and office tools
• Relevant HSE certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, CHST, ASP) a plus
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
