Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential semiconductor technology organization seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to take ownership of reliability, qualification and life-testing activities across hardware development programmes.
You will develop and maintain reliability and qualification plans for semiconductor-based hardware, defining appropriate component, assembly and product-level testing protocols. The role involves planning and overseeing life-test and qualification activities, analyzing reliability data and translating results into clear, actionable engineering recommendations.
You'll review test results, identify trends and investigate potential failure mechanisms, producing professional reliability reports for both internal teams and external stakeholders. Working closely with engineering, product and manufacturing teams, you'll ensure reliability considerations are incorporated throughout product development and collaborate to resolve reliability issues as they arise.
A significant portion of this role involves direct engagement with external suppliers and manufacturing partners. You'll guide their reliability activities, review qualification results, audit reliability work and support supplier visits and technical reviews. You will take full ownership of reliability activities from initial planning through to final review and acceptance, helping develop and continuously improve reliability processes, methodologies and reporting standards.
What We're Looking For
Our client requires significant industrial experience in semiconductor, electronics or hardware product reliability. You should bring strong knowledge of semiconductor devices, electronics and packaging, combined with proven experience developing and executing reliability or qualification plans.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of reliability testing, life testing and product qualification principles, with the ability to analyze complex datasets and turn them into practical engineering conclusions. You must be skilled at identifying trends, risks and potential failure mechanisms from test data.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate complex technical subjects clearly and concisely to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. You should have experience producing professional technical reports and managing stakeholder relationships across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Experience working with external suppliers, manufacturing partners or test houses is required, along with the confidence to challenge technical conclusions and provide clear guidance where necessary. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining focus on key deliverables are critical.
This is a senior role requiring someone who can operate with a high degree of independence and take ownership of reliability projects rather than simply execute predefined test plans. Desirable experience includes semiconductor product qualification, high-volume manufacturing environments, semiconductor packaging and assembly, working with outsourced manufacturing partners, recognized reliability standards, supplier auditing, failure analysis, and developing reliability programmes from the ground up.
