Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential AI infrastructure organization that is building foundational systems for enterprise-scale applications. You will have broad ownership across architecture, developer experience, and production systems.

Your work will include:

• Building platform infrastructure that accelerates product teams through shared abstractions, sensible defaults, and internal tooling
• Designing and maintaining systems that meet enterprise reliability requirements while scaling confidently
• Working on LLM infrastructure challenges including high token throughput, real-time usage optimization, and provider reliability
• Creating well-architected systems from authentication to observability to job orchestration that don't require rebuilding as the platform grows
• Processing large-scale code analysis workloads and managing distributed batch processing under strict SLAs

What We're Looking For

Our talent team is seeking pragmatic, high-agency backend engineers who thrive in ambiguity and care as much about the system as the feature. Fundamentals matter more than familiarity with specific tools.

You'll be a strong fit if you have:

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience with exposure to platform or infrastructure work, including scaling from MVP to production-grade systems
• Strong system design instincts and ability to own problems end-to-end across APIs, infrastructure, and data flows
• Experience with distributed systems, scaling databases (Postgres), queueing systems, and large-scale batch processing
• Knowledge of benchmarking and tuning systems under real load, with ability to make pragmatic trade-offs based on data
• Familiarity with LLM infrastructure at scale
• Track record of raising the bar through quality code, mentorship, and improved systems

The tech stack includes React, Vite, Kotlin backend, Temporal, and specialized LLM infrastructure. Strong fundamentals are more important than current familiarity—if you're exceptional, you'll pick it up quickly.
