Contract Clinical Licensing Specialist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential telehealth organization in their search for a Contract Clinical Licensing Specialist. Our client provides specialized mental health services through a digital platform, connecting licensed therapists with patients across the United States. This contract role is essential to ensuring their provider network maintains proper licensure to deliver care in multiple states.

As the Clinical Licensing Specialist, you will manage the cross-state licensing process for therapists, tracking applications, maintaining compliance records, and coordinating with state licensing boards. This position is fully remote and open to candidates anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and process cross-state license applications for current and newly onboarded therapists
• Maintain current knowledge of state licensure requirements, timelines, and regulatory changes
• Contact state licensing boards to obtain status updates on pending applications
• Communicate clear licensing workflow instructions to therapists and follow up on required action items
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date provider data in credentialing databases and CAQH systems
• Prioritize and submit licensing applications and supporting materials to state agencies based on organizational staffing needs
• Follow up regularly with state agencies on licensure status and respond to ad hoc documentation requests
• Clarify licensure qualifications and documentation questions with licensing boards; update internal workflows accordingly
• Track continuing education units (CEUs), renewal deadlines, and submit necessary forms to maintain active licenses across all states
• Coordinate with recruitment and network operations teams to ensure timely credentialing aligned with business needs
• Respond to inquiries from providers and internal departments regarding licensure status
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all provider information

What We're Looking For

• Associate's degree in healthcare or related field preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience with behavioral health clinician licensing
• Knowledge of state-specific credentialing and recredentialing requirements preferred
• Experience obtaining licensure for providers across multiple states preferred
• Familiarity with credentialing standards, regulations, and NCQA accreditation preferred
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and resolution skills
• Excellent communication abilities with a track record of building relationships with providers and internal stakeholders
• Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
• Ability to prioritize workload effectively and consistently meet deadlines
• Capacity to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining high accuracy
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Exceptional attention to detail and record-keeping abilities
