About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential HR services organization seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join their remote team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries while mentoring junior team members. Responsibilities
- Process payroll for an assigned portfolio of clients using multiple platforms including ADP, Paylocity, Workday, iSolved, Bamboo, Gusto, and others
- Serve as the primary payroll point of contact for clients, managing their day-to-day payroll needs
- Navigate difficult conversations with clients regarding payroll compliance risks and provide guidance on corrective actions
- Coordinate payroll information for audits, benefits census requests, and workers' compensation reviews
- Manage payroll compliance tasks including year-end processing, multi-state requirements, and regulatory filings
- Support benefits administration, reporting, and payroll system setup
- Lead payroll implementations, platform transitions, and other complex projects
- Build custom payroll reports and conduct internal payroll audits
- Mentor and coach other payroll team members as a subject matter expert
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 5+ years of independent payroll experience with strong multi-state knowledge; California or New York experience is a plus
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and experience with multiple payroll platforms, especially ADP, Paylocity, and Workday
- Leadership Ability: Comfortable having difficult conversations and coaching teammates; interested in expanding into a more formal mentorship role
- Client Skills: Direct client-facing experience preferred but not required if other qualifications are strong
- Schedule: Available for core business hours 8:30am–5:00pm EST, Monday through Friday; Mondays through Wednesdays are typically the busiest
- Location: Must be based in Eastern or Central time zones for this remote position
- Adaptability: Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to adjust communication style for diverse clients
- Employment Type: Full-time, salaried, W2 position
