Senior Back End Engineer [Remote-US]

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential insurance technology firm in their search for a Senior Back End Engineer to join their remote team. Our client is building advanced risk prediction platforms and digital insurance solutions backed by enterprise-scale infrastructure.

As a Senior Back End Engineer, you'll design and maintain the core services that power customer-facing products and internal operations. You'll build scalable systems, integrate data and machine learning workflows, and ensure platform performance, reliability, and security. This role offers significant ownership—from architecture decisions to feature delivery—plus opportunities to mentor engineers and shape technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain client-facing and internal APIs supporting product functionality
• Architect and orchestrate data flows across services, applications, and third-party systems
• Design and manage database schemas and storage solutions for scalable applications
• Lead complex product features from concept through deployment
• Develop automated testing frameworks and contribute to software quality initiatives
• Evaluate, integrate, and support third-party tools and platforms
• Improve system architecture, performance, observability, security, and reliability
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing across engineering teams

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 6–8 years of back end or full-stack software engineering experience
• Working knowledge of Go, plus professional experience with Go, Python, Ruby, TypeScript, or C#
• Proven track record designing and deploying high-performance client/server systems
• Experience with database technologies and messaging systems, including evaluation and selection
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and modern CI/CD practices
• Knowledge of software security principles, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with cross-team collaboration ability
• Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ownership of technical outcomes
• Ability to mentor and support junior engineers

Bonus:

• Familiarity with GraphQL, gRPC, Postgres, Mongo, Snowflake, Kafka, Python, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
• Experience in financial sectors such as insurance, banking, or investing
