Operations Accounting Intern

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential energy company seeking an Operations Accounting Intern for a 12-week paid program. This role supports the operations accounting function handling capital and operating costs for upstream and midstream assets, lease acquisitions, and reserves.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing journal entries supporting month-end and ad hoc close activity
• Performing account reconciliations, validating balances and resolving variances
• Analyzing financial results and identifying trends ahead of reporting deadlines
• Reviewing joint interest billing invoices for accuracy before payment
• Assisting with recording and tracking land and lease activity
• Assisting with lease operating expense and operations and maintenance expense reviews against budget
• Assisting with data validation and testing for accounting processes
• Gaining exposure to AI and automation tools that streamline accounting tasks

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Accounting degree program
• Must have completed at least sophomore year at an accredited 4-year program prior to the internship start
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
• Experience with large data sets and business intelligence tools is preferred but not required
• Preference for candidates who reside in Southwestern Pennsylvania, West Virginia, or Ohio
• Remote work is being considered for this role, excluding: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee
