Business Applications Lead

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential global professional services organization in their search for a Business Applications Lead based in the United Kingdom. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who understands both how the business works and how to make SaaS platforms work for it.

The successful candidate will own the internal business applications stack—CRM, ERP/finance, HRIS, and ticketing—configuring, integrating, and evolving the tools that operational teams depend on daily. You will be the single point of accountability for availability, configuration, and continuous improvement of these core platforms, translating operational needs into reliable application change while maintaining access, audit, and data integrity.

This role also encompasses leading automation and AI adoption across delivery operations, identifying where workflows can be simplified, embedding AI-assisted tools, and partnering with teams to build and scale these capabilities responsibly.

Responsibilities

Application Portfolio Ownership

• Administer and evolve the core business applications portfolio, ensuring each platform remains stable, current, and fit for purpose
• Own configuration, release management, and vendor relationships for each application, including roadmap planning, renewals, and service levels
• Capture operational requirements and translate them into well-scoped, well-tested application changes

Integration & Data

• Lead integrations between applications—SSO, data synchronization, and process orchestration—to ensure information flows cleanly end to end
• Partner with master data management on data flows across applications, protecting consistency and quality

Adoption & Support

• Drive user adoption through clear training, documentation, and responsive application support
• Promote consistent, well-governed ways of working across the application landscape

Security, Access & Compliance

• Ensure access controls, audit trails, and segregation-of-duties compliance are maintained across all applications
• Work within internal controls and regulatory requirements, supporting audits with accurate evidence

Automation & AI Leadership

• Identify automation opportunities and embed AI-assisted tools into day-to-day processes
• Partner with automation functions and delivery leaders to prioritize, build, and scale capabilities that improve accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• 8+ years working with business applications, including hands-on SaaS administration and configuration of CRM, ERP/finance, HRIS, or ticketing platforms
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong SaaS administration and configuration skills across multiple enterprise applications
• Integration and API fluency—practical experience with SSO, data sync, and process orchestration between systems
• Vendor management experience, including release management, renewals, and service-level oversight
• Strong requirements-gathering skills—able to turn operational needs into clear, testable application changes
• Solid grasp of access controls, audit trails, and segregation-of-duties compliance
• Excellent communication skills and ability to support and train non-technical users
• Comfort working with AI-assisted tools and openness to AI literacy

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading a small team of application specialists
• Exposure to master-data management and data-governance practices
• Relevant platform certifications (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday, ServiceNow, or equivalent)
