Overview
We are representing a confidential government contractor supporting critical U.S. defense logistics systems. Our client is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer (Mid-Level) to join their team working on secure, automated software delivery for a mission-critical transportation booking platform.
This role centers on building and maintaining reliable CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes infrastructure, and security integrations. You'll work with GitLab-based automation, containerized deployments, and security tooling to support development teams building modern web applications with Angular and Java Spring Boot.
The position is based in the United States and requires an active Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
- Support design, maintenance, and optimization of GitLab CI/CD pipelines to improve build reliability and developer workflows
- Manage Kubernetes deployments using Helm across development, test, and production environments
- Troubleshoot containerized workloads and maintain stable deployment environments
- Execute and interpret security scans using Fortify, SonarQube, and similar tools
- Collaborate with development teams to triage security findings and integrate scanning into pipelines
- Partner with Angular and Java teams to improve build and deployment processes
- Develop runbooks, system documentation, and diagrams to support operations and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across automation, security, and deployment practices
- Evaluate and recommend tooling improvements with focus on simplicity and effectiveness
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Active Secret clearance
- IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ CE required)
- 3–5 years of DevOps or DevSecOps experience
- Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Strong Linux and Bash scripting skills
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker
- Working knowledge of security scanning tools such as Fortify or SonarQube
- Familiarity with Angular (TypeScript) and Java (Spring Boot) to support build and deployment activities
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation
Preferred:
- Experience supporting Department of Defense systems
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs and RMF compliance requirements
- Experience with AWS or other cloud environments
- Experience integrating automated testing and quality gates into CI pipelines
- Experience supporting release management and deployment processes
