Apple/macOS Engineer

Overview

We are representing a confidential federal client seeking an Apple/macOS Engineer to join their cybersecurity and endpoint engineering team. This position is responsible for designing, hardening, and maintaining the secure macOS endpoint environment across on-site and remote user populations. You will work with JAMF Pro, Apple Business Manager, VDI integration, authentication frameworks, and compliance monitoring to ensure all macOS devices meet stringent security baselines and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and harden standard macOS workstation images for enterprise use, including VDI-connected environments
• Engineer and enforce secure macOS baseline configurations, compliance settings, and device lifecycle controls
• Administer JAMF Pro and Apple Business Manager enrollment and provisioning workflows
• Support macOS device provisioning, policy deployment, software distribution, patching, configuration drift remediation, and secure decommissioning
• Integrate macOS endpoints with VDI platforms, security agents, logging agents, and enterprise authentication controls
• Support passwordless authentication and hardware-backed credential deployment for macOS users and privileged accounts
• Configure and validate macOS logging and telemetry, including Unified Logs and forwarding to SIEM/EDR platforms
• Develop operational runbooks for macOS imaging, enrollment, patch validation, troubleshooting, and recovery procedures
• Assist with forensic collection support, audit readiness, and post-change validation activities
• Provide technical guidance to engineering, service desk, and stakeholder teams on macOS endpoint architecture and security posture

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred; equivalent experience acceptable
• Must possess an active or interim Top Secret security clearance
• 8+ years of experience in IT, endpoint engineering, or cybersecurity roles
• 6+ years performing engineering functions in enterprise environments
• Demonstrated experience working under formal change control, audit, and security governance processes
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining macOS workstation images and secure baseline configurations
• Proficiency with JAMF Pro for macOS endpoint management
• Experience with Apple Business Manager enrollment and provisioning workflows
• Experience integrating macOS endpoints with VDI clients, authentication agents, EDR/AV tools, and logging agents
• Knowledge of FileVault, recovery key escrow, device wipe, reassignment, and decommissioning processes
• Experience configuring macOS Unified Logs and validating telemetry forwarding to SIEM/EDR platforms
• Experience supporting secure authentication methods, including hardware-backed credentials
• Familiarity with macOS compliance monitoring, baseline drift remediation, and audit support activities
