Instructional Systems Designer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential government contractor that has been delivering high-impact training and learning solutions to Federal agencies for nearly three decades. Our talent team is currently seeking an experienced Instructional Systems Designer to support critical government training initiatives in Fredericksburg City, Virginia.

This role offers the opportunity to design innovative learning experiences that directly support Federal mission objectives. You will work alongside seasoned learning professionals to develop instructional materials that drive measurable performance outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop comprehensive instructional materials for Federal Government training programs
• Apply systematic instructional design methodologies to create effective learning experiences
• Conduct needs assessments and collaborate with subject matter experts to define learning objectives
• Develop curriculum, course materials, job aids, and assessment instruments
• Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on learner feedback and performance data
• Ensure all deliverables meet Federal standards and client requirements
• Maintain documentation throughout the instructional design lifecycle

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as an Instructional Systems Designer, preferably supporting Federal Government clients
• Strong knowledge of instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, or similar)
• Experience developing training materials for adult learners in professional or government settings
• Familiarity with learning management systems and eLearning authoring tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field preferred
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one may be required
