Tech Lead Full-Stack Engineer (f/m/x)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential geospatial analytics organization seeking a Tech Lead Full-Stack Engineer to own and shape the architecture of their core platform services. In this role, you will lead a team of five engineers while remaining approximately 60% hands-on, building features that render and query large volumes of geospatial data efficiently across web, mobile, and backend systems.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Leading, supporting, and coordinating the engineering team while maintaining significant hands-on contribution
• Architecting and building end-to-end features that handle complex geospatial data with strong attention to UX and design
• Designing and implementing performant API endpoints and backend services for partners and customers
• Collaborating closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, data engineers, DevOps, ML specialists, and geospatial experts in cross-functional squads
• Shaping team workflows and influencing engineering culture across the organization

The technical environment includes React and TypeScript on the frontend, NestJS with TypeORM on the backend, React Native for mobile, PostgreSQL with PostGIS for geospatial workloads, and AWS infrastructure managed through GitLab CI/CD.

What We're Looking For

Must Have:

• Initial experience as a tech lead with understanding that team and product success takes priority over individual contributions
• Strong backend experience with NestJS, Express, or Node.js
• High proficiency in TypeScript and React in production environments (Vue or Preact experience also valued—we care that you understand component models thoroughly)
• Familiarity with mobile development, particularly React Native
• Experience working in codebases with CI/CD and code review processes; ability to navigate and understand systems you didn't build
• Active use of AI-assisted coding tools in your daily workflow

Nice to Have:

• Experience with spec-driven or test-driven development approaches
• Background in web-based geospatial or GIS work
• Design and UX sensibility—comfortable making small design decisions independently
