Product Engineer — AI Infrastructure / Devtools

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI infrastructure company that has built critical developer tooling for web data extraction and browser automation. This is a product engineering role focused on building the tools that thousands of developers use to power AI agents and data pipelines.

Our client operates in the AI devtools space with significant traction—eight-figure ARR, over 150,000 companies using their platform, and a recent Series A from top-tier investors. The team is intentionally small (under 40 people), hybrid in San Francisco, and shipping features that reach production in days, not quarters.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship developer-facing features end-to-end, from concept through production deployment
• Own the reliability and performance of browser automation and web scraping infrastructure against a constantly changing web environment
• Design clean, intuitive APIs that solve genuinely hard technical problems for external developers
• Participate directly in engineering roadmap discussions and technical tradeoff decisions
• Use your own product regularly, engage with community feedback on GitHub, and let real developer pain points guide your priorities
• Ship quickly with high autonomy—no PM layers, no committee approvals, just ownership and execution

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 3–8 years of product engineering experience shipping browser automation, web scraping, or AI agent tooling to external developers (not internal tools or consumer apps)
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, with hands-on experience in Playwright, Puppeteer, browser-use, Stagehand, or Chromium internals
• Track record of owning features end-to-end without a PM or designer, ideally at a sub-200-person startup (Series A through C stage)
• Demonstrated obsession with developer experience—treating API latency, response formats, error messages, and documentation as first-class design concerns
• Bias toward shipping in days rather than weeks, comfortable making decisions with imperfect data and killing features that don't work
• Able to work hybrid from the San Francisco Bay Area

Bonus qualifications:

• Founding engineer or senior infrastructure engineer experience at a DevTools or AI startup
• Repeat founder background with a shipped product and GitHub traction
• Deep understanding of how AI agents select and use tools, and what makes prompt-based browser interaction reliable

The defining trait for success in this role: you care deeply about how the product feels to developers on the other end of the API, not just whether it works. You read GitHub issues yourself and instinctively advocate for the developer experience.

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $235,000–$260,000 base salary, plus competitive equity with details shared during the interview process.
