About This Opportunity

Our client is a well-funded AI technology company working at the forefront of machine learning development. We're representing them in their search for experienced software engineers to contribute to a specialized training initiative that helps build more capable AI systems.

This is a remote contractor role where you'll use your software engineering expertise to create reinforcement learning environments that test AI models' ability to solve real-world coding challenges. You'll develop reproducible problem scenarios and reference solutions across debugging, feature development, refactoring, and performance optimization.

Critical requirement: You must have demonstrable open source contributions visible through GitHub or GitLab, preferably in C++, Python, Java, GoLang, TypeScript, or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Create expert-level code samples, debugging strategies, and development insights in Python3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects and performance bottlenecks across diverse codebases
• Implement robust new features with attention to scalability, maintainability, and engineering best practices
• Refactor and optimize legacy code to improve clarity, efficiency, and long-term reliability
• Document technical reasoning, solution approaches, and code decisions to ensure high-quality training data
• Review and validate peer-contributed code and technical submissions for accuracy and clarity

What We're Looking For

• Significant hands-on expertise in at least one of: Python3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript
• Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles
• Proven ability to debug complex systems, resolve bugs, and deliver effective optimizations
• Experience with large codebase refactoring and legacy system modernization
• Track record of delivering high-impact features from conception through delivery
• Strong documentation and communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly
• Publicly accessible open source portfolio (GitHub, GitLab, or similar)
• Interest in AI technology (no prior AI experience required)

Compensation Structure

This is an output-based contractor role where you're compensated per completed task that meets project specifications. Time required varies based on your experience and workflow. Minimum weekly submission requirements apply.
