We are representing a confidential technology client seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a full-time remote role based in Pakistan. This position operates during U.S. business hours and offers the chance to architect core systems that will scale from thousands to millions of daily events. Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship resilient backend services that support the platform's growth trajectory
• Develop and maintain scalable APIs and data-layer infrastructure capable of handling high-volume event processing
• Work with PostgreSQL databases and background job systems to ensure data reliability and performance
• Implement pragmatic testing practices to maintain code quality and system reliability
• Build and maintain effective observability across backend services to monitor system health
• Identify and address reliability, performance, and scalability challenges proactively
• Partner closely with product teams to define scope, understand business requirements, and contribute to technical tradeoff decisions
• Balance engineering excellence with practical delivery timelines

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience building and shipping backend systems in production environments
• Strong proficiency in Python or Go
• Strong SQL skills with hands-on PostgreSQL experience
• Proven experience designing and maintaining production APIs and backend services
• Deep understanding of background jobs and asynchronous processing patterns
• Practical approach to testing and software quality assurance
• Track record of building reliable, scalable systems
• Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making abilities
• Excellent collaboration skills with product and cross-functional teams

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with high-volume event pipelines
• Background designing systems that process large volumes of daily events
• Understanding of GDPR-minded data handling and privacy-conscious system design
• Experience working in rapidly scaling environments
