Responsibilities

We are representing a well-established software development firm in Berlin that builds mission-critical applications for public sector and mid-market clients. Our client has spent over a decade delivering custom solutions where downtime is not acceptable—systems running in government agencies, critical infrastructure environments, and enterprise operations.

As a PHP Developer, you will:

• Build custom web applications from concept through production deployment
• Develop REST APIs and integrations with third-party systems and specialized domain applications
• Maintain and evolve production systems over the long term—applying security patches, performance tuning, and monitoring live applications
• Work with a modern technology stack including Laravel, Livewire, MySQL, Redis, Docker, and cloud infrastructure
• Collaborate using Scrum methodology with DevOps boards and participate in peer code reviews
• Communicate directly with long-standing clients to understand requirements and deliver solutions

Because our client operates the systems they build, your work continues well beyond go-live. You'll see your code serve real users for years and take ownership of its evolution.

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Completed vocational training as Fachinformatiker für Anwendungsentwicklung, degree in computer science, or comparable qualification
• Minimum two years professional experience in PHP development
• Substantial contribution to at least two PHP projects currently or previously in production use
• Strong proficiency with Laravel framework (Eloquent ORM, queues, testing, etc.)
• Experience with at least one JavaScript framework such as Vue.js, React, or Alpine.js
• Solid MySQL skills and clean database design practices
• Regular use of Docker Compose in your development workflow
• Practiced Git workflow including pull requests and code reviews
• Experience building REST APIs and system integrations
• Enthusiasm for continuous learning—new technologies, languages, and frameworks
• Reliable, independent working style with hands-on mentality
• German language proficiency at C1 level (most client projects are conducted in German)

Preferred experience:

• Kubernetes container orchestration
• Azure or AWS cloud platforms

This is a full-time, on-site position in Berlin-Mitte requiring five days per week in the office. The office is centrally located between Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and Alexanderplatz.

Pay

Compensation is determined based on your education level and professional experience.
