What This Role Involves

As an Advanced Step Apprentice/Journeyman Gas Technician with Xcelenergy, you'll play a critical role in maintaining and advancing our gas utility infrastructure. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with customer service excellence. You'll install, troubleshoot, and maintain gas systems and equipment for residential and commercial clients, ensuring safe and efficient operations across our service territory.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain gas piping systems, meters, and related equipment
• Diagnose system malfunctions using technical drawings, schematics, and diagnostic tools
• Conduct safety inspections and pressure testing to verify system integrity
• Respond to service calls and resolve customer issues efficiently and professionally
• Follow all federal, state, and local safety regulations and company procedures
• Document work performed and maintain accurate service records
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to operational excellence

Requirements

• Advanced apprenticeship level or journeyman certification in gas technology (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
• Strong knowledge of gas systems, safety codes, and industry standards
• Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and wiring diagrams
• Problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Physical capability to lift, bend, and work in varied conditions
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
