Workday is seeking a full-time Principal UX Designer to drive design excellence and strategic vision for our enterprise software platform in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Role Overview
As Principal UX Designer at Workday, you'll shape the user experience strategy across critical product areas, balancing business goals with user needs. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine strategic thinking with direct design work, setting the direction for how users interact with enterprise workforce management solutions. You'll work in our Vancouver office, collaborating with product, engineering, and business teams to define the future of how organizations manage their most important resource—their people.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead UX design strategy and vision for assigned product domains, conducting rigorous user research to inform decisions
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that demonstrate complex workflows and interactions
- Mentor and guide designers at all levels, fostering a culture of design excellence and continuous learning
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to scope work, solve technical challenges, and deliver designs on schedule
- Contribute to and evolve our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across the platform
- Participate in design critiques, user testing sessions, and iterate based on feedback and data
- Communicate design decisions clearly to stakeholders, translating complex concepts into compelling narratives
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in UX design with a strong portfolio showing strategic and execution work
- Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
- Experience leading design work in complex, enterprise software environments
- Strong foundation in user research methods and usability principles
- Proven ability to mentor and develop design talent
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
