Field Chief Technology Officer (Field CTO)

Responsibilities

Our client, a leading enterprise data infrastructure organization, is seeking a Field Chief Technology Officer to serve as their premier technical ambassador. In this critical role, you will:

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to C-level executives at Fortune 500 companies, articulating the strategic value of high-performance object storage in AI readiness and data democratization contexts
• Design and validate complex, large-scale architectures for enterprise customers, guiding integration with AI/ML pipelines and modern data lakehouse ecosystems
• Represent the organization at major industry conferences, webinars, and meetups while authoring technical whitepapers, reference architectures, and blog posts on object storage, generative AI, and modern analytics
• Partner with enterprise sales and customer success teams on high-stakes deals, unblocking technical objections and providing strategic guidance during Proof of Concepts and large-scale deployments
• Serve as the voice of the customer to product and engineering teams, distilling market trends, customer pain points, and emerging AI/Analytics patterns into actionable product requirements
• Bridge engineering innovation with strategic business needs through peer-to-peer conversations with enterprise CIOs, CTOs, and CDOs
• Lead architectural discussions with principal engineers on next-generation workload infrastructure

What We're Looking For

We are representing our client in their search for a highly technical, visionary, and customer-centric professional with:

• 10+ years of experience in technical leadership roles such as Enterprise Architect, Chief Architect, VP of Engineering, or previous Field CTO positions
• Demonstrated experience in customer-facing or evangelist capacity, successfully presenting to both highly technical audiences and C-level business executives
• Deep architectural understanding of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs), including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows and vector databases such as Milvus, Qdrant, or Pinecone
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML data pipelines and frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, Ray, and Hugging Face
• Understanding of hardware bottlenecks in AI, specifically GPU data starvation challenges and high-throughput storage solutions
• Expertise in Open Table Formats (Apache Iceberg, Apache Hudi, Delta Lake) and their integration with object storage
• Proficiency with modern query engines and compute frameworks such as Trino, Presto, Apache Spark, Flink, and StarRocks
• Solid grasp of the evolution from traditional data warehouses to modern Data Lakehouse architectures
• Strong command of Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native orchestration
• Deep understanding of the AWS S3 API, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems design
