Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential professional services firm in München seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead all non-technical operational functions. You will report directly to the Managing Partner and own the strategic development of the organization's operational backbone.

  • Drive operational excellence across controlling, quality management, risk, resource allocation, and process optimization
  • Lead Finance & Controlling teams, utilizing KPIs, forecasts, and reports to inform business decisions
  • Establish robust project planning, capacity management, and personnel planning systems to align resources with client demand
  • Create clear governance rhythms, KPI reviews, and decision-making processes while ensuring action items are executed
  • Oversee back-office operations, administration, and facility management
  • Provide close leadership to HR and Marketing functions, supporting departmental leaders in professionalizing their domains
  • Collaborate with the Chief Digital & AI Officer to modernize processes, defining requirements, standards, KPIs, and organizational rollout
  • Ensure clear accountability, functional interfaces, and process discipline without unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Partner closely with senior leadership to translate business objectives into concrete operational decisions

What We're Looking For

  • Substantial leadership experience in professional services, consulting, audit, or similar partner-led environments
  • Proven track record building or significantly developing operational functions and management systems from the ground up
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with demonstrated ability to lead controlling, reporting, and business management functions
  • Experience scaling organizations professionally and creating structures that function amid increasing complexity
  • Hands-on expertise in process design, comfort working with data, systems, and automation
  • Ability to work confidently with senior partners and leadership on equal footing, representing clear positions and executing decisions decisively
  • Leadership style combining clarity and pragmatism: high standards in execution, respectful and accountable in relationships
  • Entrepreneurial, independent, solution-oriented approach requiring minimal oversight
  • Professional certifications are not required—what matters is your experience as an operational leader and your ability to structurally advance a demanding professional services organization
