About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential voice AI technology client in their search for a Senior Commercial Counsel based in the EMEA region (remote). Our client is a well-funded organization at the forefront of speech technology, serving developers and enterprises globally. This is a rare opportunity to join as the second commercial lawyer on a lean, high-impact legal team that has a genuine seat at the strategic table.

This role is for a deal-maker who thrives at the intersection of law and business strategy. You'll close enterprise agreements that matter, shape legal frameworks being built for the first time in the AI space, and help establish a legal function that scales with rapid growth. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel (Commercial), you'll play a lead role supporting expanding business across the UK, EU, India, Australia, and Singapore.

Responsibilities

• Structure, negotiate, and close enterprise sales and partnership agreements, along with vendor contracts, services agreements, data licenses, and marketing arrangements
• Serve as a trusted legal partner to sales and business development teams, enabling faster deal closure without compromising quality
• Bring customer empathy to negotiations, understanding client businesses well enough to craft agreements that close efficiently and hold up over time
• Design and implement scalable legal processes—standardizing deal terms, building templates, and streamlining paths to execution
• Provide clear, practical guidance on privacy, intellectual property, data security, and AI-specific legal issues
• Navigate cross-border commercial and regulatory matters across UK/EU and APAC, structuring appropriate data transfer mechanisms (SCCs, adequacy decisions, BCRs)
• Stay ahead of the evolving legal landscape for AI technologies and translate developments into actionable guidance
• Handle the full breadth of legal issues that come with supporting a fast-growing technology company

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• JD, LLM, or equivalent law degree/qualification from an accredited institution
• 5–12 years of legal practice experience (in-house, firm, or both)
• Demonstrated strength in commercial transactions internationally, particularly across UK/EU and APAC markets
• Experience with enterprise deals, partnerships, and strategic commercial relationships
• Fluency in intellectual property, privacy, data security, and data licensing (depth in some areas, willingness to learn others)
• Practical experience with data protection regimes and structuring cross-border transfer mechanisms
• Comfort with legal ambiguity while providing clear, actionable advice
• Exceptional writing skills—precise, plain, and compelling
• Enthusiasm for AI technology and working in a fast-paced, experimental environment where AI tools are integrated into daily workflows

Preferred experience:

• Supporting high-growth startups in scaling their sales motion and building legal infrastructure that accelerates business
• Hands-on experience with commercial and legal issues specific to AI technologies
• Supporting a U.S.-headquartered company's commercial expansion into UK/EU and/or APAC markets
