Reporting to the Director of Cybersecurity Operations, you will define network security requirements, validate architectures, perform security assessments, and partner closely with infrastructure teams to protect Medicare and Medicaid protected health information (PHI). You will serve as the subject matter expert on network security, driving zero-trust strategy and supporting incident response.

Responsibilities

Network Security Strategy & Architecture

  • Review and validate network architecture and design changes from a security perspective, providing requirements and sign-off
  • Drive zero-trust networking strategy across cloud, physical, and remote-workforce environments
  • Evaluate and provide security requirements for new network security technologies (SASE/SSE platforms, NDR, DNS security)
  • Define network-layer controls for enterprise AI service traffic, including egress policies and data-leakage protections
  • Partner with Infrastructure, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, and Application Development teams to embed network security controls

Security Reviews & Assessments

  • Conduct security reviews of network environments including firewall infrastructure, Azure network controls, AWS network controls, and ZTNA/VPN platforms
  • Lead periodic firewall rule reviews, segmentation validation, and access-path analysis
  • Validate secure configuration of network devices against industry benchmarks and internal standards
  • Coordinate vulnerability management for network-related vulnerabilities
  • Lead architecture-level network security review for new initiatives and applications
  • Develop and report network security posture metrics to leadership

Incident Response & Threat Detection

  • Serve as senior escalation point for network-related security incidents
  • Lead network forensics activities including packet capture analysis, flow analysis, and log review
  • Utilize SIEM and XDR platforms during incident investigation and response
  • Lead network-specific threat hunting aligned to MITRE ATT&CK and current threat intelligence
  • Direct network-layer containment actions during active incidents
  • Contribute to post-incident reviews and recommend improvements

Monitoring & Compliance

  • Provide security oversight of network monitoring tools including NDR, IDS/IPS, and DNS security
  • Collaborate with SOC analysts on tuning network-layer detections
  • Maintain documentation for network security standards, procedures, and runbooks
  • Provide network security input into risk assessments
  • Partner with GRC function to evidence controls for NIST 800-53, HIPAA, SOC 2, and CMS audits
  • Review and approve WAF and firewall policy changes and security exceptions

  • Strong knowledge of information security and network security principles across cloud, on-premises, and remote-workforce environments
  • Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewall environments (FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager) at scale
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cloud network security in Microsoft Azure (NSGs, Azure Firewall, Application Gateway/WAF, private endpoints, hub-and-spoke design, ExpressRoute/VPN gateways)
  • Knowledge of AWS network security (security groups, NACLs, AWS Network Firewall, WAF, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink)
  • Experience with ZTNA and secure remote access for distributed workforces
  • Demonstrated experience with network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and zero-trust networking principles
  • Proficiency in network protocols, routing, switching, TLS inspection, and packet/flow analysis
  • Proven ability to investigate and respond to network-based security incidents
  • Strong understanding of healthcare-relevant regulatory requirements (HIPAA, NIST 800-53, SOC 2, CMS)
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
