Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

We are representing a confidential digital services organization that builds durable web platforms for mission-driven clients across nonprofit, startup, and enterprise sectors. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join their distributed engineering practice.

This is a senior-level role with significant ownership: you'll lead projects end-to-end, communicate directly with clients, make architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers. You'll be expected to balance technical execution with business outcomes,Delegate effectively, and surface risks early.

The team values strong communication, autonomy, and engineers who take responsibility for delivery — not just code quality.

Responsibilities

• Own projects from discovery through post-launch support, including requirements gathering, architecture, implementation, and iteration
• Serve as technical lead and primary engineering contact for client engagements
• Translate business needs into sound technical decisions and communicate progress clearly to stakeholders
• Break down complex work into delegatable tasks with clear acceptance criteria
• Write production-quality code across the full stack — front-end frameworks and back-end services
• Use AI-assisted workflows responsibly to accelerate research, documentation, testing, and first-pass implementation
• Perform code reviews and help establish engineering standards across projects
• Support discovery, estimation, and technical planning for new engagements
• Mentor engineers through pairing, feedback, and technical leadership
• Partner with project managers to manage scope, timelines, and delivery risk

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years shipping production web applications with demonstrated project leadership
• Strong full-stack development experience — comfortable across front-end and back-end layers
• Professional experience with React or a comparable modern JavaScript framework
• Solid PHP background, including object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Deep hands-on experience with Drupal 8/9/10: custom module development, theming, and site building
• Experience executing Drupal migrations
• Strong Git fundamentals and fluency with command-line tooling
• Experience integrating external APIs and third-party services
• Comfort working with SQL and database-backed systems
• Excellent communication and listening skills, especially in client-facing contexts
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal oversight

Nice to Have:

• Prior use of AI agents or AI-assisted development workflows in production environments
• Experience building or maintaining reusable component libraries or design systems
• Relevant platform certifications
• Agency or consulting experience
• Track record mentoring junior or mid-level engineers
