Group Tax Manager – 4 Month Fixed Term Contract

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential travel technology organisation seeking an Interim Group Tax Manager for a 4-month fixed-term contract based in London. Our client is a publicly listed business operating across multiple European jurisdictions, and they have been building out a high-performing in-house tax function. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a role with genuine breadth and responsibility, working closely with the Group Head of Tax and supporting a growing team.

Responsibilities

• Manage all compliance tax matters across UK and European entities, including corporation tax, VAT, and employment taxes, coordinating with external advisors to ensure accurate and timely submissions
• Lead the tax accounting function end-to-end, including preparation of tax disclosures in statutory accounts, audit provision calculations, and ownership of tax journals and postings using Microsoft D365
• Drive budgeting and forecasting of corporation taxes, leveraging forecasting software and working closely with Finance and Treasury teams on Quarterly Instalment Payments and cash tax positions
• Review and manage UK and EU VAT return submissions via Making Tax Digital software, and oversee operational transfer pricing across Group entities
• Lead the management of R&D tax relief claims across multiple jurisdictions, working with technical teams and external advisors
• Champion tax process improvement, identifying automation opportunities and delivering training to embed best practices across the business
• Manage tax governance including risk registers, annual compliance processes, tax accounting controls, and process documentation
• Support the Group Head of Tax on ad-hoc research and project work, and actively support the development of junior team members

What We're Looking For

• Professional tax or accounting qualification such as ACA, CTA, ACCA, or equivalent
• Significant experience in a broad tax role gained in practice, in-house, or a combination of both
• Proven experience preparing UK corporation tax returns and audit provisions at Group level
• Strong working knowledge of tax accounting principles and experience managing compliance across multiple jurisdictions
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including building and reviewing complex financial models and tax calculations
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax matters for non-specialist stakeholders
• Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
• Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues within a tax or finance team
• Exposure to tax forecasting or automation tools is beneficial; familiarity with Microsoft D365 or similar ERP systems is helpful but not essential
