Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential coatings manufacturer seeking an Automation Engineer near Wiesbaden. In this role, you will collaborate with systems engineers and design teams to develop modular control concepts that balance functionality, safety, manufacturing requirements, and cost-effectiveness while ensuring reusability and integration capability.
Your technical work will include programming robotic systems with a focus on FANUC platforms, integrating them with higher-level systems, and participating in the selection and implementation of sensors, actuators, and automation components. You will own control technology responsibilities throughout customer projects—from initial development through internal testing to international on-site commissioning.
Documentation of software and project progress will be completed in close coordination with electrical design, mechanical engineering, production, and project management teams. You will also analyze and resolve faults in control and automation systems and provide third-level support for control technology issues.
What We're Looking For
- Completed degree in automation or electrical engineering, or comparable technical certification with relevant specialization
- Practical experience programming and commissioning PLC controls, specifically Siemens S7 / TIA Portal
- Knowledge of industrial robot programming and commissioning, particularly FANUC systems
- Familiarity with HMI/visualization solutions and industrial communication protocols
- Very good German language skills and good English proficiency
- Willingness to travel internationally approximately 30% of the time
