Head of Financial Systems

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential AI organization in their search for a Head of Financial Systems based in Paris. This is a strategic leadership role where you will architect and build a modern, data-driven finance technology ecosystem from the ground up. You'll work at the intersection of finance, data engineering, and AI to transform how financial operations are managed and scaled.

This position reports directly to the CFO and requires collaboration across HR, IT, Legal, and Security teams to assess current systems, identify gaps, and design a target architecture that supports rapid organizational growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive assessment of the current Finance technology landscape, including existing tools, processes, data flows, and operational pain points
• Define and prioritize business, functional, and technical requirements for Finance systems in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
• Design a target Finance technology architecture, mapping system roles, integrations, and data flows
• Develop and implement a data governance framework that establishes ownership, quality controls, and maintenance processes
• Create and execute a prioritized roadmap to clean up and rationalize Finance datasets
• Deliver clear recommendations on future Finance technology setup, including cost analysis, risk assessment, and transition planning
• Ensure Finance data quality and migration-readiness by proactively addressing data quality issues

What We're Looking For

• Strong project management capabilities, from vision and strategy definition through flawless execution
• Engineering academic background, ideally from a tier-1 engineering institution
• Deep data architecture expertise with hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions using APIs, workflows, BigQuery, DBT, and similar technologies
• Mastery of data sources, pipelines, storage, transformation, and metadata management
• GenAI power user with coding skills, automation expertise, and professional experience building scalable products. Basic software development experience is a strong plus
• Experience in Finance technology assessment and system selection, with knowledge of tools such as SAP S4H, Kyriba, and similar enterprise finance platforms
• Solid financial knowledge across FP&A, accounting, cash management, and procurement, with demonstrated ability to drive value through process automation
• Builder and scaler background, with experience structuring IT systems in finance, building IT teams from scratch, and operating in multi-country environments
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate data quality, consistency, and business relevance
• Proficiency in prioritization frameworks and the use of performance metrics to drive measurable impact
