Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure & Acquisition – Stuttgart, Germany

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology company in their search for a Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure & Acquisition based in Stuttgart, Germany. Our client operates in the text-to-speech and accessibility space, building products used by millions of people worldwide. This is a fully remote position within a distributed team of approximately 200 professionals.

This role sits within the AI team and focuses on data collection and infrastructure to support large-scale model training operations. You'll be working with petabyte-scale datasets, managing cloud infrastructure, and collaborating closely with research scientists to deliver high-quality data that powers next-generation AI models.

Responsibilities

• Identify and integrate new sources of audio data into the ingestion pipeline
• Operate and extend cloud infrastructure for data ingestion, currently running on GCP and managed with Terraform
• Collaborate with research scientists to optimize the cost, throughput, and quality of data delivery at scale
• Work with leadership to develop the AI team's dataset roadmap for future product development
• Build and maintain infrastructure supporting petabyte-scale data processing workflows
• Handle multiple priorities and adapt to the evolving needs of model training operations

What We're Looking For

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of industry experience in software development
• Strong proficiency with bash and Python scripting in Linux environments
• Professional experience with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP experience is a plus)
• Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is highly valued
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt quickly to changing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for asynchronous collaboration
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on delivering practical solutions
