Lead Business Analyst, Process & automation (London | remote)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Lead Business Analyst, Process & Automation to join their Capital and Payments division. This remote role is based in the UK and offers the opportunity to work on operational excellence initiatives across payments, lending, underwriting, risk, and billing functions.

You will own projects from discovery through implementation: identifying process failures, proving problems with data, designing solutions, coordinating delivery with stakeholders, and tracking outcomes until teams fully adopt the improvements. AI tooling is integrated throughout the work rather than treated as a separate initiative.

This is a hands-on individual-contributor position with complete ownership of your project portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Map end-to-end operational flows, trace handoffs, and document how processes actually function versus how they are documented
• Diagnose root causes versus symptoms and quantify where time, cost, and customer impact are occurring
• Transform findings into clear requirements, improved workflows, and delivery plans with measurable success criteria
• Build or coordinate automation, tooling, data solutions, and controls that address identified gaps
• Lead testing and launch readiness, track impact against agreed metrics, drive adoption, and transition ownership to receiving teams
• Establish AI agent usage in operations by identifying high-leverage opportunities and deploying them for bounded, multi-step workflows with proper evaluation methods
• Partner with teams outside operations whose work affects these outcomes and translate operational insights into business cases for Product and Technology priorities

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years in business analysis, process improvement, operations, implementation, or product operations
• Proven track record leading complex cross-functional projects from problem definition through implementation and ongoing measurement
• Strong analytical capabilities - you use data, queries, and dashboards to validate problems and prove outcomes
• Demonstrated ability to convert ambiguous business needs into clear requirements, process designs, and delivery plans
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, written communication, and presentation skills with a history of driving alignment across teams you do not manage

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in financial services, fintech, payments, lending, insurance, or another complex regulated operating environment
• Background in commerce, e-commerce, point-of-sale, or marketplace platforms
• Hands-on experience with workflow, case-management, or process-automation platforms
• SQL, business-intelligence tools, or data modelling skills
• Experience evaluating or deploying AI-enabled solutions for operational use cases
• Track record of driving adoption and effectiveness after launch, not just delivery
