SRE Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential blockchain infrastructure organization seeking an SRE Manager to lead a team of experienced site reliability engineers. This is a remote position supporting a globally distributed team.

Our client operates critical infrastructure supporting a major blockchain platform, including test and production network environments, deployment pipelines, observability systems, and the infrastructure that developers, node operators, and end-user applications depend on. The SRE team manages environments across different stability tiers, from rapidly evolving test networks with daily automated updates to production networks requiring 24/7 on-call coverage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of experienced SRE engineers working on blockchain infrastructure
• Set engineering direction and establish reliability standards for distributed blockchain systems
• Implement and maintain SLOs, error budgets, and blameless postmortem processes
• Build the organizational conditions and processes that enable high-quality engineering work
• Drive automation initiatives to eliminate repetitive manual work from the team's responsibilities
• Oversee infrastructure supporting test networks, production environments, and deployment pipelines
• Collaborate across the organization to ensure reliability practices scale with platform growth

What We're Looking For

• Strong systems thinking with genuine understanding of distributed systems and large-scale infrastructure
• Proven experience working in or leading teams that practice SRE discipline seriously
• Deep understanding of error budgets, SLO calibration, and running effective postmortems that drive improvement
• Track record of building teams that automate repetitive work rather than absorbing it
• Demonstrated success in people development, with engineers growing and advancing under your leadership
• Comfort working in unusual technical territory; blockchain infrastructure experience is not required, but openness to learning domain-specific challenges is essential
• Technical credibility with senior engineers, even if you're not the most technical person on the team
• Ability to thrive in a remote-first, globally distributed team environment
