Commercial Sign Graphic Designer

We are representing a confidential signage organization in the United States that is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Sign Graphic Designer. This role requires someone who can transform conceptual ideas into production-ready visual designs across both print and electronic media. Our client needs a designer with deep sign industry experience who can collaborate across multiple teams and deliver work that connects with audiences while meeting strict technical and fabrication requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage project timelines by prioritizing work, following up on dependencies, reprioritizing as needed, and meeting or exceeding deadlines
• Communicate proactively by surfacing missing information, risks, scope changes, and timeline impacts early to keep projects moving forward
• Execute technical design work applying layout, proportion, hierarchy, spacing, typography, contrast, sightlines, and legibility principles to create clear, buildable sign solutions
• Work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects with various teams while meeting deadlines and budget constraints
• Maintain brand integrity through correct logo usage, color matching, PMS/paint/vinyl callouts, finish selections, and illuminated color considerations
• Update and maintain internal databases of designs
• Create vector graphics using advanced software manipulation, managing complex layering systems, Bezier curves, overlapping paths, and path-finding operations
• Blend 3D sign vectors into site photos using advanced photo-manipulation skills, including perspective grid matching, lighting/shadow layers, and realistic simulations of illumination and material textures
• Incorporate buildable details such as depth, returns, reveals, illumination zones, mounting conditions, material transitions, installation constraints, and service access into design decisions
• Read and understand architectural drawings
• Use accurate measurements, scale relationships, dimensions, material yield awareness, and viewing-distance requirements to support production-ready drawings
• Partner with internal teams to resolve design, material, fabrication, installation, or customer concerns quickly and professionally
• Utilize emerging AI trends to reduce process timelines and improve deliverable quality

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field preferred
• 5+ years of relatable experience as a Graphic Designer in the sign industry required
• Understanding of various sign types and fabrication methods is required
• Proficiency with CorelDraw is required (this is the primary software used)
• Experience in Adobe Illustrator is a plus
• Demonstrated graphic design skills with a strong portfolio including technical fabrication drawings
• Strong eye for visual composition
• Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to give and receive constructive criticism
• Understanding of marketing and corporate identity principles
• Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and installation processes preferred
• Experience with computer-aided design
