About This Opportunity
Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential digital product agency seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to join their distributed team across Canada and the United States. This is a part-time contract position with strong potential to convert to full-time for the right candidate.
Our client specializes in custom mobile solutions for enterprise clients, building everything from companion applications to IoT integrations and multimedia streaming platforms. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams of designers, developers, and architects to deliver high-quality mobile applications that solve real business problems.
Responsibilities
- Develop custom Android and iOS mobile applications using Java, Kotlin, Swift, and Objective-C
- Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality, maintainable code
- Collaborate with product managers and UI/UX designers to create seamless mobile experiences
- Design, build, deploy, and support enterprise-level mobile solutions
- Write unit tests to ensure code robustness, including edge cases and reliability
- Optimize application performance, quality, and responsiveness
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, memory leaks, and bugs
- Maintain code quality, organization, and automation standards
- Work with RESTful APIs to connect mobile applications to back-end services
- Participate in self-organizing project teams to deliver optimal client outcomes
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of demonstrable proficiency with Swift
- 3+ years of demonstrable proficiency with Kotlin
- Experience with dependency management through Cocoapods, Swift Package Manager, and Gradle
- Familiarity with debugging tools including LLDB and ADB
- Strong understanding of MVVM and other mobile design patterns
- Experience with SwiftUI and Material design principles
- Knowledge of real-time messaging protocols
- Experience with e-commerce frameworks such as Stripe and StoreKit
- Proficiency with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
- Ability to debug retain cycles, memory leaks, and other memory management issues
- Understanding of asynchronous programming concepts
- Experience with video streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, WebRTC, RTSP)
- Knowledge of production distribution, including certificates and provisioning profiles
- Strong Git version control skills in team environments
- Understanding of build configurations, schemes, and build variants
- Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications (Firebase)
- Knowledge of cross-platform solutions (React Native, Flutter, MAUI) is a plus
