About This Opportunity
Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential technology consulting organization based in Portugal. We're seeking a Senior Database Administrator with deep Oracle expertise to join their infrastructure team. This is a remote-friendly role focused on enterprise database optimization, performance tuning, and strategic technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Optimize Oracle database performance through compression techniques, query tuning, and indexing strategies with focus on CPU efficiency, storage cost reduction, and I/O optimization
- Fine-tune Oracle CPU allocation algorithms to maximize resource utilization and minimize waste
- Optimize backup and recovery processes for Oracle storage appliances, ensuring reliability and cost-effectiveness
- Lead and support key infrastructure projects, including authentication system migrations and client upgrades
- Guide development teams on database design best practices, SQL coding standards, performance optimization, and scalability
- Perform root cause analysis on performance incidents and complex database issues escalated from infrastructure partners
- Enforce access management, encryption controls, auditing standards, and maintain audit-quality documentation
- Contribute to multi-platform database environments including Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, and analytics platforms where relevant
- Collaborate with infrastructure partners, development teams, and project stakeholders across multiple initiatives
What We're Looking For
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable technical field
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience with Oracle databases in production environments
- Proven expertise in performance tuning, compression, and resource optimization
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaCC), ZFS, and Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA) is a strong plus
- Operating system knowledge: Linux and/or Unix (primary), Windows (secondary)
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex database performance issues
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams
