Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cloud platform organization seeking a Product Manager to own a significant product area and the outcomes it delivers for developer users. In this hands-on, technically rich role, you will bridge product strategy and deep infrastructure understanding while acting as the key voice for the user.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Strategy and roadmap ownership: Define and maintain the strategy, roadmap, and priorities for your product area, balancing established foundations with new territory.
  • Problem definition: Synthesize inputs from customers, support, sales, and engineering into clear problem statements, constructively testing underlying assumptions.
  • Solution definition: Explore options with your team, weigh trade-offs, and land on the right scope.
  • Iterative delivery: Release in increments and shorten the loop between shipping and learning.
  • Technical execution: Collaborate with engineering teams, especially infrastructure and systems specialists, to deliver platform capabilities that are reliable, scalable, and developer-friendly.
  • Dual audience design: Build features, APIs, documentation, and error messages that serve both human developers and AI agents.
  • Customer advocacy: Connect with customers regularly, serve as an internal advocate for their needs, and define metrics that demonstrate value.
  • Cross-functional influence: Build alignment across engineering, design, marketing, support, and leadership.
  • Go-to-market partnership: Work with marketing early so strategy helps shape the product, not just the launch.

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks a Product Manager with proven experience owning a distinct product area, ideally focused on developer platforms, PaaS, or cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings:

  • Product management experience: Demonstrated success in product management with ownership of outcomes, preferably in developer platforms or cloud infrastructure.
  • Technical depth: Understanding of building, deploying, and running applications in the cloud, with ability to collaborate closely with infrastructure engineers on multi-tenant architectures or distributed systems.
  • Software development background: Familiarity with building software using languages such as Python, Ruby, JavaScript, PHP, Go, or Rust.
  • CI/CD and container experience: Hands-on experience or close collaboration with CI/CD workflows, Docker/OCI container technologies, and a clear vision for intuitive API design.
  • AI fluency: Daily use of modern AI tools to research, draft, and prototype workflows, paired with a realistic understanding of current limitations.
  • Agentic development perspective: A strong viewpoint on autonomous agent architecture and how agentic workflows are transforming software engineering.
  • Navigating ambiguity: Comfort turning unstructured problem spaces into clear strategies and taking thoughtful action with incomplete information.
  • Collaborative communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of listening, building consensus, and uniting teams around a shared vision.
  • Data-informed approach: Ability to seek out and evaluate data to guide decisions and track success.

Bonus qualifications include:

  • Enthusiasm for using and testing platform capabilities you help build
  • Experience using Kubernetes or building self-service platforms on Kubernetes
