Director of Operations – Germany (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential mobility services organization seeking a Director of Operations to lead their German market. This is a remote position based in Germany, offering the chance to drive operational excellence across a distributed network of locations in the company's largest and most revenue-generating market.

As the operational leader for Germany, you'll own end-to-end performance across stations, fleet availability, and maintenance processes. You'll work within a matrix organization, collaborating closely with central teams while ensuring stable, efficient, and scalable operations that meet targets for cost, quality, availability, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Drive operational performance and KPI ownership across all German locations, including vehicle availability, downtime reduction, maintenance costs per vehicle, pickup/return productivity, and service quality metrics
• Own operational budgets for the German market, working closely with Finance and Controlling on forecasts, variances, and efficiency initiatives
• Lead and develop the operational management structure (e.g., Regional Managers), establishing clear accountabilities, decision pathways, and escalation processes
• Continuously optimize operational processes along the customer journey, ensuring consistent standards and execution across all sites
• Identify and implement concrete actions when performance deviates from targets, with rigorous follow-through on implementation
• Communicate risks, dependencies, and operational blockers transparently to stakeholders
• Reduce operational complexity through standardization and clear prioritization
• Build a resilient performance and feedback culture at station and regional levels

What We're Looking For

• Several years of experience in a highly operational leadership role within a decentralized environment
• Proven track record of responsibility for operational KPIs, budgets, and cost control
• Background in operations, fleet management, or asset-intensive business models
• Leadership experience managing across multiple locations
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with data-driven decision-making capabilities
• Excellent execution ability, clarity in action, and a hands-on mentality
• Strong communication skills in matrix organizations
• Willingness to travel regularly within Germany and occasionally to headquarters locations
• Fluency in German and English required
