Senior Software Engineer – Distributed Systems

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential observability platform organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their distributed systems team in France. In this role, you will design, implement, and run foundational platforms that power large-scale applications processing billions of events per second globally.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions in multi-tenant environments
• Writing production code in Go, Java, Rust, or C++
• Working with open-source technologies including Kafka, Redis, Cassandra, and Elasticsearch
• Owning meaningful parts of internet-scale data pipelines optimized for durability, high availability, and low latency
• Contributing to platforms that ingest, store, analyze, and query real-time event data at massive scale

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking candidates with:

• BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
• Significant backend programming experience in one or more languages (Go, Java, Rust, C++)
• Exposure to distributed systems challenges such as high durability and low latency requirements
• Ability to work at the low-level when performance optimization is needed
• Strong focus on simple designs and performance
• Experience with or enthusiasm for leveraging AI coding tools in day-to-day workflows
• Demonstrated ability to validate, critique, and refine AI-generated code output
• Bonus: Motivation to push boundaries of how AI can improve software engineering practices

This is a hybrid position available in Bordeaux, Grenoble, Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, Paris, or Sophia Antipolis.
