About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI research organization seeking a bilingual PhD-level chemist to support critical safety evaluation work. This remote contract role focuses on advancing responsible AI development through expert scientific review and content annotation.

Responsibilities

  • Author expert-level prompts in German covering specialized scientific and technical domains
  • Evaluate AI model outputs for scientific accuracy, appropriateness, and safety considerations
  • Apply structured assessment frameworks to classify prompts and conversational exchanges
  • Annotate responses with attention to the responsible handling of sensitive dual-use information
  • Work independently on an asynchronous schedule while meeting project deadlines
  • Contribute to AI model performance improvements through rigorous scientific review

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in chemistry, biology, or a closely related scientific discipline
  • Native or near-native fluency in German
  • Business-level written English proficiency
  • Deep familiarity with modern laboratory and computational techniques in your research area
  • Sound judgment regarding scientific safety and dual-use research concerns
  • Ability to commit 20+ hours per week on a contract basis

Preferred Background:

  • Based in Germany or Western Europe
  • Expertise in radiological or nuclear chemistry applications
  • Demonstrated depth in organic synthesis, inorganic synthesis, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, or genetics
  • Research or formal training in chemical safety and security, biosafety, biosecurity, or hazardous-materials protocols
  • Prior experience reviewing, grading, or red-teaming technical or scientific content
