We are representing a leading healthcare technology organization that is modernizing claims processing through cutting-edge cloud solutions and microservices architecture. Our talent team is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their claims services division, where you'll architect and deliver innovative solutions that simplify complex healthcare processes and directly improve people's lives.

In this role, you'll lead and mentor a team of software engineers through the complete development lifecycle, standardize quality assurance procedures, and drive the technical vision for enterprise-scale cloud applications. You'll work within an agile environment, conducting code reviews, providing technical guidance, and making independent decisions on complex architectural challenges.

Location: Remote within the United States. Candidates must reside within or relocate to a 60-minute commute of Louisville, KY; Dallas/Frisco, TX; Tampa/Ft. Lauderdale, FL; or Nashville, TN.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical expertise and guidance throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Architect, build, test, and continuously deliver new features and products using modern cloud technologies and microservices patterns
  • Standardize quality assurance procedures and oversee testing, debugging, and issue resolution
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, design principles, and quality guidelines
  • Research and resolve complex software-related issues, making recommendations to leadership on technical strategies
  • Exercise independent judgment on complex technical decisions with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams to deliver enterprise-scale solutions
  • Promote responsible AI-assisted engineering practices while ensuring code quality, security, and compliance

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive IT experience as a senior developer in large IT projects
  • 2+ years of project leadership experience
  • 5+ years designing, developing, and testing software applications with proven success delivering complex projects from conception to completion
  • 3-5 years hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot
  • 3-5 years REST API development experience
  • Strong experience developing cloud solutions for large-scale enterprise environments
  • Proficiency with microservice architecture and cloud design patterns
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (preferably MongoDB)
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, or PCF
  • Familiarity with DevOps processes including CI/CD and automation
  • Experience working in Scrum/Agile environments
  • Experience using AI code-assist tools such as Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar platforms
  • Strong communication skills with ability to mentor junior developers and collaborate across teams
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Full-stack development experience (frontend and backend)
  • Kafka and event-driven solution development
  • Kubernetes and containerization skills
  • Frontend development with Angular or React
  • Azure certification strongly preferred
