About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking an Outpatient ED Coding Specialist to join their remote coding team. Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is managing the full recruitment process for this position.
This is a remote position within the United States, offering the flexibility to work from home while supporting clinical coding operations for emergency department services.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding for outpatient emergency department charts
- Code surgical procedures typical of an emergency setting to ensure proper revenue capture
- Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes to the highest level of specificity available
- Interpret coding guidelines and ensure accurate code assignment across multiple chart types
- Identify documentation opportunities that impact code assignment and reimbursement
- Maintain compliance with AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and all applicable regulations
- Participate actively in ongoing training and professional development programs
- Maintain required productivity levels and accuracy rate of 95% or higher
- Maintain a quality score of 95% or higher
- Ensure compliance with all privacy and security regulations including PHI protection
What We're Looking For
- Required Certification: Active CPC, COC (AAPC) or CCS, CCS-P (AHIMA) credential required
- Experience: Minimum 6 months of hands-on coding experience
- Working knowledge of EMR and billing systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, spreadsheets) and Outlook (email management, scheduling)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with professional demeanor
- Ability to work independently from home with minimal supervision
- Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance
- Access to reliable internet connection, phone, and current coding materials (CPT and ICD-10-CM references)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines
- Comfortable working at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours daily
- Ability to manage interruptions and periods of increased workload
