Technical SAP Enterprise Architect (w/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential global SAP consulting organization seeking a Technical SAP Enterprise Architect for their Heidelberg location. In this role, you will serve as a strategic partner to enterprise clients undertaking complex SAP S/4HANA transformations. You will bridge architectural excellence with methodical execution, supporting management-level decision-making processes while collaborating closely with business units, IT teams, and presales colleagues to design sustainable, scalable target architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design and define S/4HANA target architectures across deployment models (On-Premises, Private Cloud, RISE with SAP) and derive clear migration and transformation roadmaps
• Evaluate and guide S/4HANA migration scenarios (Brownfield, Selective, Greenfield) including risk, effort, and decision analyses
• Conduct system readiness analyses and technical prechecks using SAP standard tools (Readiness Check, Business Transformation Center, Maintenance Planner)
• Analyze simplification items and derive concrete measures for processes, organization, and customizing
• Lead custom code management initiatives, including analysis, decommissioning, and refactoring aligned with Clean Core principles
• Design and govern integration and interface architectures (RFC, IDoc, APIs, OData, web services) according to SAP ISA-M methodology
• Ensure compatibility with third-party add-ons and legacy systems
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, key users, and sales/presales functions
• Create and present decision documents, management briefings, and risk/impact analyses
• Provide architectural input for governance, security, change management, testing, training, and post-go-live activities

What We're Looking For

• Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA architecture, including data models, ECC vs. S/4HANA differences, Fiori concepts, and end-to-end process understanding
• Proven experience in S/4HANA transformations, including migration approaches, readiness assessments, pre-projects (CVI, Universal Journal, Material Ledger, Asset Accounting), and technical prerequisites
• Strong knowledge of custom code and integration architecture, including ATC/SCI, APIs, interfaces, Clean Core approach, and ISA-M
• Proficiency with relevant SAP tools and platforms for conversion and modernization (Readiness Check, SUM/DMO, Fiori, LeanIX, Signavio; SAP Cloud ALM/Solution Manager advantageous)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in SAP projects, including at least one S/4HANA conversion, plus deep expertise in at least two core business processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at technical and management levels
• Fluent German and English language skills, written and spoken
