JMH seeks a Pharmacy Technician - Lead for our Walnut Creek pharmacy to lead medication operations, supervise technician staff, and ensure superior patient care in a full-time, 8-hour role with variable shift flexibility.

What This Role Involves

In this Pharmacy Technician - Lead position at our Walnut Creek location, you'll combine clinical expertise with team leadership. Your responsibilities span medication preparation and verification, staff coordination, and pharmacy workflow optimization. Working alongside our pharmacists, you'll ensure compliance with all regulations, maintain accuracy in every prescription filled, and create a supportive environment where your team excels in delivering safe, patient-centered care.

Core Duties

• Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians, providing guidance on procedures and professional development
• Verify prescriptions for accuracy, legality, and appropriateness before dispensing
• Prepare medications through compounding, repackaging, and labeling processes
• Monitor medication inventory and coordinate restocking of pharmaceuticals and supplies
• Process insurance authorizations and resolve billing questions from patients
• Maintain detailed records and ensure all HIPAA and regulatory requirements are met
• Assist patients with medication questions and support pharmacist counseling efforts
• Train new team members on pharmacy protocols, systems, and safety standards
• Respond to urgent clinical needs and coordinate with nursing and medical staff

Requirements

• Active California pharmacy technician license (or ability to obtain)
• 2–3+ years of pharmacy operations experience with proven leadership or supervisory background
• Proficiency in pharmacy management software and electronic prescription systems
• Strong commitment to accuracy, attention to detail, and medication safety protocols
• Skilled multitasking in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities with staff and patients
• Flexibility to work variable shifts as operational needs require
