DevOps Engineer (AU)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a DevOps Engineer to support their APAC operations from Australia. Our client builds cloud-based platforms that serve the design and construction industry, and they need an experienced infrastructure engineer to provide regional operational coverage while partnering with global engineering teams.

This role combines hands-on cloud infrastructure work with engineering-led operational support during Australian business hours. You'll build automation, maintain CI/CD pipelines, and ensure platform reliability for customers across the region.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release automation using GitHub and Azure DevOps
• Build and manage cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, provisioning and maintaining environments through infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and security; act on alerts before they impact customers
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement reliability improvements
• Provide operational and on-call coverage for the platform in the APAC time zone, including participation in follow-the-sun incident response rotation
• Automate manual and repetitive infrastructure and deployment tasks to reduce operational risk
• Collaborate with software engineering, QA, and security teams across time zones to design scalable, secure systems
• Document infrastructure, runbooks, and operational procedures to share operational knowledge across regions

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• 5+ years in software engineering, IT infrastructure, or cloud operations
• 3+ years in a dedicated DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure role with hands-on Microsoft Azure and infrastructure as code experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services
• Infrastructure as code expertise, with Terraform preferred
• Hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and automation processes (GitHub, Azure DevOps)
• Working knowledge of Git and version control workflows
• Strong understanding of system and solution architecture, including designing for scale and resilience
• Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems

Required Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience

• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Network implementation and architecture (VNets, gateways, security)
• Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash)
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools
• Knowledge of SQL databases
• Microsoft Azure certification (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-400)
• Experience supporting a multi-region SaaS platform and its data center infrastructure
