About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential robotics organization in Munich developing autonomous multi-agent systems. Our talent team is seeking a Robotics Software Engineering Intern to contribute to swarm coordination platforms tested on live robotic hardware in field environments.

This is a 3–6 month full-time internship where you will work alongside experienced robotics and embedded engineers, building software for distributed autonomous systems. You will develop monitoring tools, extend simulation frameworks, and contribute to core navigation, perception, or planning components. Your work will move beyond theory—tested on real platforms in operational scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Develop data-driven dashboards and visualization tools to monitor and analyze system performance across multi-agent deployments
  • Extend simulation environments with automated test scenarios, KPIs, and evaluation workflows
  • Analyze simulation and field-test data to surface system bottlenecks and improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to the core robotics stack in areas such as state estimation, sensor fusion, motion planning, control, or mission execution
  • Collaborate with robotics, simulation, embedded, and domain specialists on system integration challenges
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing and validation on real robotic platforms

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Autonomous Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong programming skills in C++, ideally modern standards (C++17/20)
  • Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles
  • Basic understanding of robotics fundamentals: coordinate transformations, sensor data pipelines, estimation, or planning
  • Comfortable working in Linux environments
  • Curious mindset—motivated to understand system-level behavior beyond individual components
  • Ability to work independently on defined technical problems while proactively seeking feedback
  • Genuine interest in autonomous systems and robotics technology
  • NATO-aligned or close ally citizenship (required for project eligibility)

Nice to Have (experience from university projects, research, student teams, or personal work counts):

  • Experience with ROS or ROS 2
  • Hands-on work with real robots, embedded systems, or hardware-in-the-loop setups
  • Exposure to SLAM, navigation, computer vision, filtering, or multi-agent coordination
  • Experience working with LiDAR or camera sensor data
  • Familiarity with flight controllers (PX4, ArduPilot) or simulation platforms (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Unreal Engine)
  • Background in embedded platforms, GPU programming, or networking protocols
  • Exposure to machine learning methods applied to robotics
  • Extra-curricular engineering projects, robotics competitions, or research achievements

Work Style:

  • Strong problem-solving approach and eagerness to learn
  • Structured and reliable work habits
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguous technical challenges without predefined solutions
  • Collaborative mindset, open to technical feedback
  • High ethical standards and disciplined work ethic
