Senior Software Engineer

About the Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded cloud infrastructure technology company seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their core platform team. This role focuses on building and operating multi-tenant control plane management systems that serve enterprise customers globally. You'll work with cutting-edge Kubernetes technologies, contribute to open-source projects, and take ownership of features that directly impact thousands of users.

This is a remote position open to candidates in Canada and the United States.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate production multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure, troubleshooting issues and ensuring reliability at scale
• Contribute to open-source cloud-native infrastructure projects and engage with developer communities
• Take ownership of high-priority customer features and deliver functionality that exceeds user expectations
• Investigate and debug complex distributed systems issues across customer environments, including resource reconciliation problems and performance bottlenecks
• Write thorough design documents for new initiatives and detailed post-incident reviews that drive continuous improvement
• Support the full project lifecycle for highly scalable cloud services—from discovery and architecture through deployment and ongoing operational support
• Develop and maintain Go code that interfaces with the Kubernetes API, including operators, controllers, and add-ons, with emphasis on observability and operational excellence
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Kubernetes services in production using metrics, logs, and traces
• Build operational tooling for debugging, analyzing system health, and automating incident response
• Author documentation, user guides, runbooks, and blog posts for new features
• Support software release cycles for self-hosted distributions, including diagnosing issues in customer-managed deployments
• Participate in on-call rotation, responding to incidents and driving them to resolution

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience operating production cloud services at scale, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and post-mortem analysis
• Strong debugging skills across distributed systems with hands-on experience using observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and distributed tracing
• Experience building and operating Kubernetes controllers, including troubleshooting reconciliation loops, managing API rate limits, and optimizing controller performance
• Proficiency in Go programming language
• Comfort working directly with enterprise customers to understand, reproduce, and resolve complex technical issues
• Track record of taking ownership and responsibility for solving problems, especially during customer-impacting incidents
• Commitment to excellence and continuous improvement of both personal skills and system reliability
• Customer empathy with understanding that reliability and debuggability are critical product features
• Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset for effective teamwork and customer support
